I'm excited to read the awesome-looking Foxcraft series so jumped at the chance to take part in the blog tour Faye Rogers has organised, with author Inbali Iserles talking about a favourite children's classic!
Book:
Comet in Moominland by Finnish author Tove Jansson.
Number of books: (Series only)
Growing up, one of my favourite books was Comet in Moominland, part of the Moomin adventures. The entire series was spellbinding, an extraordinary marriage of story and illustrations. There are a number of books in the main series, along with several picture books, comics and spin offs.
Availability: Give us a rough idea of how easy it is to get hold of.
Happily, the books are widely available in multiple formats and languages.
The Premise: (With as few spoilers as possible, please!)
Moomintroll seeks an explanation for the dazzling star that looks set to collide with their world. With his friend Sniff, he embarks on a quest that takes them through weird and wild dangers to the Lonely Mountains. On the way, they meet many of the characters who come to personify the Moomin adventures, such as Snufkin. They discover that a comet is hurtling towards earth – how will the creatures of Moominvalley survive?
Why I Really Like It:
Between the drying ocean and scorching sky, it could almost be an allegory for climate change. Jansson averts gloom with her light-hearted prose and exquisite illustrations. The characters are original, the landscape alluring. Read it and dream of forests and fjords!
Best Books: (series only)
For me it’s Comic in Moominland, though all of the series is magical.
Who It Will Appeal To:
Children from five or six plus, and everyone with a sense of magic.
Others By The Same Author:
Different publishers and territories have packaged the books in various ways, which makes it hard to provide a definitive series list. But the in print Puffin editions include:
Finn Family Moomintroll
The Exploits of Moominpappa
Moominsummer Madness
Moominvalley in November
Tales from Moominvalley
Moominpappa at Sea
The Elders by Inbali Iserles

thanks a lot for this great post. I am a new blogger, running WordPress on Byethost free hosting. As I am a newbie I’ll spend money on domain & hosting later when I’ll earn some money from my blog. But my question is, is there any risk to continue blogging on free hosting like Byethost?
